2011; The Summervilles release their debut EP "Garage Romantic" independently. Inspired by the morbid monotony of suburbia, a fixation on social greeds and shortcomings as seen through the lens of 80s/90s punk rock ideals. Writing songs in a run down room-for-rent in the back alleys of Mascot; a typical low-rent suburb in Sydney's South. The group recorded a bunch of songs with producer James Cadsky at The Vault in Sydney. Original drummer David Tapia leaves the band shortly after.

released July 1, 2011

Recorded and mixed by James Cadsky and Tim Bridge at The Vault in Sydney, Australia.

Track Name: What They Say...
cause nothing matters here anyway
scratch your head at all the things i say
cold stares warm feelings end
there ain't no meds
to make this go away
grab a drink to wander up stokely
dodge the trains to fix
this sporting life
sporting home
sporting wife and her fur coat
and now shes gone
dont wanna live this way no more
well pressures on and the crowd awaits
back at home shes smoking cigarettes
we turn our vice and we numb the pain
there aint no truth
to make lies go away
grab a drink to wander up stokely
dodge the trains to fix
this sporting life
Track Name: Be Honest
you were never the type
to work it out and make things right
now its us on the line
your guilty arms are folded tight
youre too pretty
to be honest
all in my head
youre not there im alone
vacant looks on your mind
an empty room i bide my time
heavy sighs on the phone
the airs too thin im going home
so wheres this history meant to go
youre present tense
and im just barely a thought out in the cold
takes drugs to numb the feeling
its endemic can't you see it
take drugs to drown these feelings
of our sunken heart
Track Name: We're Alive?
we bought our house just to own the yard
we plant some seeds so we can all it art
we pay the bills so we can fill the banks
the banks are broke
theyre coming round to knock us out
ill see you back in town
were alive
i think im hoping
we drive in we drive out
everytime we lose our peace of mind
we clock in we clock out
everytime we lose a piece inside
if youre feeling lonely
if youre feeling down
i'll see you back in town
venues closed watched em boarded up
our scene is dead so we spill our guts
we look for thrills just to kill the boredom
our scene is dead i guess we should be going
Track Name: How Pitiful
well i don't know if youre the type
who hangs around on winter nights
i hold my breath keeps things in check
but things aint free and im a mess
i will spend another night
until you say
you are alright
we cut things loose
we are alright
until another time
cause after dark the futures bright
swapping fluids out of sight
we split the gains like broken glass
and in the end it just wont last
in the dark the futures bright
were pitiful until our next july
in the dark the futures bright
how pitiful until our next july
while you got us in the line
while you got us all this all time
i'll be there in good time
to see if what we feel we see us going out of mind
